French Open Day 11 - Women+Men

(18)Jelena Jankovic SRB vs (2)Maria Sharapova RUS

Jelena Jankovic
Both players have looked solid at Roland Garros. Jankovic has solid wins over Hantuchova, Muguruza, Stosur-a former finalist here, and Hampton. Sharapova hasn't dropped a set against Hsieh, Bouchard, Zheng, and Stephens. However, Sharapova leads Jankovic 7-1 in their meetings, but they have never met on clay, which is arguably Jankovic's best surface as she is able to retrieve even more balls than usual. Also, almost all of these matchups have been very tough. Jankovic has absolutely nothing to lose against the defending champion in this quarterfinal matchup, but it would be shocking if she pulled the big win. In an interesting match that pits defense against offense, which side will be able to execute in the end?

Prediction: Sharapova in 3 sets

Due to my lack of time today, I will be unable to make in-depth predictions. It's another interesting day in Roland Garros, and another day of drama likely awaits. Novak Djokovic faces veteran Tommy Haas, Maria Kirilenko looks to upset Victoria Azarenka, and Rafael Nadal is against Stanislas Wawrinka.

Prediction: Djokovic in 5 tricky sets
Prediction: Azarenka in 2 tough sets
Prediction: Nadal in 4 grinding sets
